Salix moves to level 8

Yes, Salix has moved on...at least in the gymnastics world. She was in Ft. Lauderdale last weekend and earned a 35+ score on her series of level 7 events. This qualifies her for the state meet later this spring and a move up to level 8 for next season. Hard to believe that she will be 10 in a few months!

Chicago Style Meet Update

Salix and Michelle went to Chi-Town to visit the Sears Tower, and compete in the Chicago Style Gymnastics Meet. Salix did well for herself - scoring her highest score this year! She is pumped about being in good health...unlike last year.

We'll send some pictures out at some time in the near future.

When asked, Salix said she enjoyed the "bumpy" airplane ride. I told her that most people would rather not have the plane bouncing around in the sky. Her response-"I'm a kid, we like bumby rides!" Yep.


Acer, Tilia, and I spent the cold weekend reading the book - "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" - the sequel - Acer is so into this series. Ask him about it sometime.

Chicago Style Meet 2008

Salix is set to have her last level 5 meet on February 8th - in Chicago. She hoping to stay healthy this year, unlike last year's major bug that totally wiped her out at this time. Salix and Michelle are flying down to stay the weekend wth Jackie - we'll keep you posted. Go Salix!


The boys (and Tilia) get the weekend off. We're planning on going to the Minnesota Zoo - if you are in town - let us know and we can meet there.

Salix's meet at Maple Plain

Salix did a great job - turning the beam into her best event of the night?! She normally loves the bar and vault. Here is a close-up of the bar routine for you. She's getting so good and tries so hard. She has such determination to get things done. Enjoy!

Salix's MN state qualifier meet info...

Salix competed last weekend at the 2nd state qualifier meet. It was right down the block at the Roseville Gymnastics Center.

She rocked her 1st event - the bars, and really put a lot of effort into the other events. We're proud of her and hope that she continues to enjoy her sport as she grows. Here is a clip of her bar routine, and a little of Faith's (her teammate) routine as well.



She competes again this coming weekend - the 18th. We'll see you all in Maple Plain.

Chicago Style

Wow, what a great time we had in Chicago. We took a mini vacation down to the windy city while Salix was competing in the Chicago Style Invitational. It is the largest women's gymnastic meet in the world. Roughly 3,500 gymnasts participated in the event. Salix wasn't feeling as good as normal - still feeling the effects of strep throat - so she was a bit of her game. She still tried very hard and impressed us with her tenacity. Salix was in love with the American Girl store~! This event was like Christmas all over again for the store. Thousands of girls staying the weekend on Michigan Avenue = $$$$ to the American Girl store. We were one of the lucky families and escaped with only purchasing a flapper outfit.

Salix's floor routine -level 4

We finally have a cord for the camera-computer connection. This is one item we found on the camera. It is of Salix at the holiday spirit invitational at Hamline University - Sometime in December.

Michelle thinks I have Alzheimer's because I forget where I place things a lot. As you can see from this video, sadly, I have Parkinson's as well.

Spirit Invitational Gymnastics meet - Hamline University

On Dec. 17th, Salix participated in her first gymnastics meet. It was a great time for everyone. Salix's friend, Bryn, cheered her on with Mom, Dad, Acer, Tilia, Grandpa Paul, and Grandma Teri.

Salix looked great - finishing high in the placings and scoring very well overall-especially on vault. All of the hard work she put into training for this showed! We all look forward to more meets this winter and spring! Join us in Chicago...Chicago Style Meet - February 9-11, 2007 @ thee Navy Pier.
